Rosy Rotala is an annual herb living on land or partly in water, 8-30 cm. Stems are ascending or erect, mostly unbranched. Opposite leaf-pairs are arranged at right angles alternately. Leaves are linear-lanceshaped to lanceshaped-oblong, 7-30 × 3-5 mm, base blunt to wedge-shaped, tip blunt. Bracts are similar to leaves, longer than flowers. Flowers are 5-parted, solitary, stalkless, in leaf axils on main stem and branches. Bracteoles are linear, slightly shorter than flower tube. Flower-tube is bell-shaped, 1-1.5 mm. Sepals are 5, very short, 0.25 mm, with long-pointed tip. False sepals are as long as sepals. Petals are absent or up to 5, 0.25 mm, not persistent. Stamens are 5, anthers reaching margin of flower tube. Ovary is round. Capsules are round, 2 mm in diameter.
