P. cineraria is almost evergreen, medium to large size tree, ranging in height from 3-10m. The leaves are bipinnately compound and petiolated, the leaflets are glabrous, green in color, becomes grey when dry. inflorescence is racemose, bearing many small, yellow-green flowers. The fruit is an elongate, subcylindrical pods, pods contains 10-25 oval-shaped and brown-colored seeds. There may be considerable variation in growth rates, pod size and composition.
