Erect annual herb, often denuded sandy soils in open woodland, grassland and along road sides. Leaves alternate, linear-lanceolate, with appressed stiff hairs on both surfaces; margin entire, often rolled under. Flowers in multiple elongating inflorescences, white, usually yellow-orange inside the corolla tube.
