  • Geniculately ascending annual, up to 50cm high. Leaves flat or convolute,ciliate; ligule a small, ciliate membrane. Panicles 5-15 cm long, lax. Spikelets long, green with purplish tinge. Lower glume upto 2-4 cm long, linear-lanceolate, acute,1-nerved, awned; the upper one shorter or rarely equal to lower one. Lemma articulate at the top; column long, twisted, awn-branched upto 5cm long &subequal; callus conical, punget.
