Clustered perennial grass, culms erect and somewhat bulbous at the base.
Seedheads become dark purple in color on maturation. Inflorescence- a specified panicle.
Cenchrus setigerus is extremely heat and drought resistant and also tolerates frost.
Grows in desert and dry shrublands.
Proposed as a barrier against moving sand.
Valuable fodder in drylands.
